Getting the water spots and marks off your tables, plant stands or any wood surface can be almost impossible. I have a simple technique that can be very simple to do.
Enjoy this short video and if you have any question or just don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, feel free to reach out.
In this video I show a quick way to get a color match sample stain board ready so I can make sure I will have the right color to match to my door sample I have on hand plus how I achieved that color.
It saves time down the road so you don't have to rework your actual piece or pieces. Color matching is always important.
In this case I am matching it to an already completed kitchen so I want to make sure it matches exactly for our client. A sample board allows you to make mistakes and correct them before you actually work on your project. Later on if I have to make the client another piece or they want more work done I have a reference to refer back to.
In a shop its even more important that you know the formulas and procedures.

Client had extreme water damage to an end panel to a dishwasher, it could not be repaired but it could be replaced. I set to work with a new maple veneer panel.
I am showing multiple videos to show you the finishing process starting with prep sanding... next will be the staining and finally the seal coats, scuff sand and topcoats. An installation video is not available as the client did not want the inside of her home to be filmed. Out of respect we only have a few before and after images for you to see. I did make a small video showing those before and afters of both this end panel and the under the counter "cover-up" panel. It has already been posted to YouTube for you to enjoy.

In this video I show you how I have repaired this damaged frame. Its an older door that was damaged when a trip and fall happened and they fell into the door. After I removed all the old glue it was a simple process to put it back together. There are further repairs that are needed but I will show those in future videos.

In this short video I show some before and afters of some baseboard work that was done. The client had their floors refinished not once but twice after an incidence with a mover dragging a fridge over newly done floors.
After the floors were done the first time they replaced the baseboards and pin nailed it to death... then the second time they redid the floors they did not remove the baseboards so they were damaged and splashed with stained and topcoats.
We went in and filled the pinholes, repaired the damage, removed the stain and seal then refinished all the affected baseboards on the main floor.

In this video I show you a very economical hanger system out of old metal hangers you can get at hardware stores, Walmart, thrift stores or even dry cleaners.
Using just some wire cutters, perpetrated L brackets and pliers you can make your own hanging system right in your garage/shop. Hanging your cabinet doors, chairs, panels and so on, to spray finish them or hanging them to dry after painting them will let them dry without dust and debris falling onto your finished surface.

Just a short demonstration on how I tape carpeting when I need to do a repair where wood meets carpet. I do this so that the stain will not seep into the fibres underneath. Its a very simple technique and no you don't have to use blue tape. Any painters tape will do.

A quick demonstration on how I mask the grout line on a tile floor. This ensures the stain and topcoats from damaging or discolouring the grout. I am making repairs, staining and topcoats to a transition that has tile flooring on one side and brand new carpeting on the other.
I was taught, spend a little time to mask properly instead of a lot of money replacing!

Hi everyone, this video shows the polyurethane "misting" and topcoats I used to finish these 2 bedside tables. I spray them on their sides so there will be the least amount of dust falling into my finish.
I show you step by step what I do to give a nearly glass finished look.
I have used polyurethane because it has water resistance properties in it, has UV protectorates and is non-yellowing. Its like a gymnasium floor finish but made for furniture.
These techniques are simple to do, and you can do this process right in your own home. But if you feel you do not have the ability to do this procedure, I do recommend that you contact a wood furniture or wood finishing expert to do the repair for you.

I show you 2 different techniques on how to repair your loose veneer. If you look at my last video "Assessing The Damaged Veneer" you will see how I uncovered where there is de-laminated (loose) veneer. Now I'm fixing the damage.
Using wood glue, an iron, white clean rag and a spatula I re adhere the loose veneer. Sooo, enjoy!

This client wanted to have the tops redone, after masking the sides and attached decorative metal hardware on the corners I sanded down the two tops (demonstrated in another video) I then mixed up my black primer (demonstrated the procedure in another video) then sprayed the topcoat which you can watch in this video below. The next steps will be to scuff sand (video demo) and spray clear polyurethane topcoats (video demo), then final step is unmask, clean up (video demo) and deliver to the client.
The before and after images were quite incredible and can be seen on the gallery page , just above.

In this "step by step" video I show and explain how to repair and touch-up damage to the top of a staircase after a puppy had chewed the edge and corner.
The customer was getting the home ready for sale and this was a big eye sore for them. We were happy to come to their home and do this on-site repair. Our owner, Dave Kyle (Kyle's Wood Touch Up And Repair & DJKonsulting Inc) decided to do this free step by step repair for everyone to enjoy.
If you have questions or comments, please feel free to ask. We value your thoughts, opinions or questions. If you have a better way to do any step shown we look forward to how you do these sorts of repairs.
Forgive some of the background noises as our clients have a couple of "little ones" and as you know... life is life, and they do make noise.

Our wonderful client had impact damage and wanted it to look like new.
Here is a quick photo video of what I did. I used 2-conponant wood epoxy, so it has to be kneaded to activate the epoxy.
I had to drill a small hole to anchor the epoxy to, then trimmed it once it was partly dried so that I would not have to sand so much damaging the surrounding wood.
Added the base stain bringing the epoxy to the proper color then drew in the grain using a darker stain.
Once it looked right seal coated it in to protect all the work.

In this very short video, one of my staff members shows you a simple and easy way to remove the white marks you get on your table when something hot has been on your table top.
This happens when the moisture gets trapped between the layers of finish on your table. For example... when you put a pizza box on the table top. The heat from the box causes steam which in turn penetrates the surface of your finish and gets trapped there. When you lift the pizza box you will see a white smoky look.
Its actually a very simple fix. Believe it or not it takes dry heat to draw back out the moist heat under the surface level.
Take a clean rag or thin towel and heat your iron to high. Do not have any water in the iron. Then do as you see in the video, make small circles with the iron but only leaving it on for a few seconds at a time. Feel the spot to make sure your not overheating the area. If it feels too hot then move to another section or just wait a few moments to give it a chance to cool, then repeat and you will start to see it change color and fade away. Repeat the steps until you can no longer see the white ring any more.
Please do be careful not to melt the finish or burn yourself. Unplug the iron and let complete cool before you put it away or add put water inside again. It can be done on most any wood surface with a finish on it, in an upright or flat position.
I don't personally recommend you using mayonnaise as it has oils in it that can do damage to your finish or leave a film on your table.
I have used methyl hydrate but with using any chemical you take the chance with it melting the finish. I have not tried other techniques, the heat method with an iron works amazingly for my clients. But any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Being a mobile and onsite finishing company I can do a lot of work that most shops cant do. As well, allows me to work in areas that are not usual for a finishing shop and does allow me to save a TON of cash for businesses and home owners.
I have had 30 plus years of hands on experience learning to do the most unusual repairs you could image with great success.
I pass on this knowledge with my sister company DJKonsulting Inc where I can coach everyone the techniques I have learned over the many years.

This is a historic building so they requested that the originality remain. But due the fact its a high traffic area and gets banged up frequently there's lot of damaged areas in need of our repairs.
This is my first time doing a hyper lapse video so forgive the more funny parts... after all I cant sand at the speed of a hummingbird...lol
