Professional Polyurethane Finishing Technique for Bedside Tables
In this instructional video, I demonstrate the polyurethane misting and topcoat process used to professionally finish these two bedside tables. To help achieve an exceptionally smooth, nearly glass-like finish, the tables were carefully sprayed on their sides — a technique that helps minimize airborne dust particles from settling into the finish during application.
Throughout the video, I walk through the finishing process step by step, demonstrating the methods used to build clarity, smoothness, and depth within the final surface. For this project, I selected a high-performance polyurethane finish due to its durability, water resistance, UV protection properties, and non-yellowing characteristics. The product offers protection similar to commercial-grade gymnasium floor finishes while being specifically designed for fine furniture applications.
Professional finishing is often the difference between a standard result and a truly refined furniture-grade appearance, and proper preparation, application technique, and environmental control all play an important role in achieving that level of quality.

Many of these finishing techniques can be attempted at home with the proper materials and preparation. However, if you feel a project may be beyond your comfort level, we always recommend consulting a qualified wood furniture or wood finishing specialist.
