Precision Steam Damage Cabinet Restoration

Our client contacted us regarding steam damage that had affected the bottom portion of a cabinet door and the valance beneath the cabinetry. Moisture exposure had caused darkening, fibre swelling, and visible deterioration to the wood finish, requiring a detailed restoration process to return the cabinetry to its original appearance.

The repair process began with careful sanding to smooth the damaged areas and remove the raised wood fibres caused by the steam exposure. We then used professional bleaching techniques with lacquer thinner to help lighten and neutralize the darkened wood before precisely colour-matching the existing finish using custom airbrushed stain applications.

Once the colour restoration was complete, the cabinetry underwent a professional finishing process consisting of a seal coat application, detailed scuff sanding, and multiple protective topcoats to restore both the beauty and durability of the original finish.

The final result blended seamlessly with the surrounding cabinetry, leaving the repaired areas virtually undetectable.
